As we celebrate May 4th, a day all Star Wars fans covet, here is a fun video on some exciting new technology that might actually make the force a reality. Joshua Carr, a technical liaison at IBM Worldwide Bluemix, is currently developing this new technology. By combining Emotiv Insight and IoT services on Bluemix, Joshua moves a BB-8 droid using his mind. You can check out the video below.
The Emotiv Insight is a wireless headset that records brain activity and translates it into meaningful data. The Emotiv is available on their website here. IBM Bluemix is a cloud platform used to accelerate innovation. It allows you to obtain top level resources and gain a deep understanding of IoT technology. With IBM Bluemix, you can connect your applications and data sources together.
With these two technologies together, Joshua was able to create “the force” by moving the BB-8 droid with his mind. With this fun technological advancement, we are excited to see if there are more advancements bringing Star Wars from a fantasy to a reality.
