Electronics Products Magazine Names Cadence One of Their 42nd Annual Product of the Year Award Winners

Recently, Electronics Products Magazine announced their 42nd Annual Product of the Year award winners, with Cadence Design Systems winning for their Virtuoso® System Design Platform. According to the article, the editors “have chosen [products] they see as the most outstanding.”

The Virtuoso System Design Platform is a formal, streamlined, and automated co-design and verification flow between the Cadence Virtuoso platform, Allegro®, and Sigrity™ technologies. This higher level of integration enables engineers to design concurrently across the chip, package, and board. By automating what has normally been a manual process, the Virtuoso System Design Platform minimizes errors and can reduce layout versus schematic time between IC and package from days to minutes and eliminates errors due to manual entry of information.

With companies such as Apple and Google beginning to create their own chips, a platform such as the Virtuoso System Design Platform is a game-changer. The platform provides a complete flow and allows for optimization at the system level thereby eliminating any guesswork. Now, ability to edit the design, and simulate all or part of the design, while considering the package and board details is available. From an IC standpoint, the platform allows manufacturers to qualify and optimize their chips; giving them a better understanding of how customers utilize them within the board and how they interface with the board directly.

This isn’t the first time Virtuoso has been awarded this esteemed honor, in fact, the Virtuoso ADE Product Suite was named the 2016 Electronic Products Magazine’s Product of the Year.

The 2017 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2018 issue of Electronic Products with a cover feature and a brief description of each winning product. The selection was based on a “significant advance in technology or its application, innovation in design, or gain in price performance.”  The winning products also appear on the Electronic Products website at http://www.electronicproducts.com/ProductYear.aspx
